Monte Cook

Monte Cook has worked as a professional writer for more than 25 years. As a fiction writer, he has published numerous short stories and two novels, The Glass Prison and Of Aged Angels, and attended the Clarion West SF&F writer’s workshop and the Launchpad Astronomy Workshop for science fiction writers. He also wrote the Ptolus: City By the Spire comic book series for Marvel Comics. As a nonfiction writer, he has published the Skeptic’s Guide to Conspiracies.

Most notably, as a game designer, he has written hundreds of books and articles. Best known for D&D 3rd edition, Monte also designed Heroclix, Ptolus, Arcana Evolved, the Books of Eldritch Might, d20 Call of Cthulhu, Monte Cook’s World of Darkness, and many more. His new company, Monte Cook Games, published a brand new roleplaying game earlier this year called Numenera. Numenera was funded as a wildly successful Kickstarter in 2012, one of the largest rpg Kickstarters of all time. It is supported by fiction, a card game, miniatures and terrain, and a host of other products. It is also the setting and foundation of Torment: Tides of Numenera, the computer rpg from inXile Studios coming in 2015. Monte Cook Games is now in full-swing, producing more Numenera books as well as additional new games.

In his spare time, Monte investigates the paranormal as one of the Geek Seekers.
