Robert Maillet

A French Canadian from rural New Brunswick, it was clear from an early age that Robert would be a very big boy. In the first grade he stood taller than his teacher and that made him awkward and a bit shy, so growing up he took shelter in his own dreams. One of those dreams was to become a professional wrestler, and for a time he realized that dream with a successful career in the W.W.F. At the urging of a friend, he brought the confidence and poise learned in the ring to the big screen.

As time goes on, so does his list of memorable roles. He was first seen as the Uber Immortal in Zack Snyder’s Spartan Epic 300. Making the most of his onscreen physical presence, Robert went on to play Dredger in Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes, the terrifying Minotaur in Tarsem Singh’s Immortals, Samuel Blackwell in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, Terror Thompkins in the comedic romp A Little Bit Zombie and the proud Aleksis Kaidanovsky, co-pilot of the Cherno Alpha robot in Guillermo del Toro’s epic Pacific Rim. His upcoming roles will also include Polyphemus the Cyclops in Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters. Far from being exclusively a big screen actor, Robert has also appeared as the Behemoth in the TV series Once Upon a Time, as Momo in the small screen adaptation of the Transporter, Derian in the BBC’S Merlin and will soon be seen as The Master in the upcoming TV series The Strain.
